Sandalwood & Orange Peel Clay Mask

This face pack has been formulated around a skin health superstar, Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti). What makes Fuller’s Earth a go-to for a beautiful complexion? It is a mineral packed cocktail that cleanses and draws out oil and other impurities from the skin. This is particularly beneficial to treat acne and other skin issues such as blackheads. It also promotes circulation and helps improve one’s skin tone.

We combine this skin wonder with Sandalwood & Orange Peel powder to improve skin texture and tone as well as prevent premature aging. These ingredients have been used through the ages for their varying skin benefits and continue to make people feel beautiful around the world.

Rosehip Extract is a potent ingredient to boost collagen. It is packed with beauty essentials like anti-inflammatory fatty acids and vitamins A and C. It helps to repair damaged skin, delay signs of aging & even out skin tone.

Nutmeg is another wonder spice that I chose to add in this clay combination as the benefits of this spice are way too many to be ignored. It acts as a natural astringent for acne prone skin & a moisturizing exfoliator for dry skin. It is anti – inflammatory & reduces redness & pigmentation of the skin while giving it a youthful look.

This is a clay based dry mask, which can be mixed with one or more of the below options to suit your skin type. This pack works for all skin types but is particularly effective for oily skin.

Ingredients: Solum Fullonum (fuller's earth), Santalum Album Extract (sandalwood), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (orange peel), Rosa Canina Seed powder (rosehip), Myristica Fragrans (nutmeg)

Usage: 

For enhanced benefits, apply it on your clean face and neck, ideally before a shower. Let the mild and natural fragrance soothe your senses while the ingredients work their magic on your skin. After about 10 -15 min., wash off the mask with water, using gentle circular motions. The exfoliating properties of this mask gives your skin a natural glow and leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh. Pamper yourself 2 -3 times a week. This mask can be drying so its best to not use it more than that. Follow up with a gentle moisturizer/rose water.

For oily skin:
1. Mix one tbsp of the clay powder with one spoon of lemon juice and one spoon of honey in a nonmetal bowl.
2. Make a thick paste of the pack and apply it on your face.
3. Let it dry and wash off with cold water.
It will reduce the excess oil from the face and improve the overall skin texture.

For dry skin:
1.Mix one tbsp of clay powder with one tbsp of milk or rose water in a nonmetal bowl.
2. Make a paste like consistency and apply it on your face.
3. Wash it off with plain water when the mask is almost dry.
Both milk and rose water work great for dry skin. This gives your skin the much needed hydration and nourishment.

For acne-prone skin:
1. Mix one tbsp of the clay powder with one tbsp of rose water and a pinch (any more and your face might get stained yellow) of turmeric, in a non metal bowl.
2. Make a paste like consistency and apply it on your face.
3. Wash it off with plain water when the mask is almost dry.
Multani Mitti & turmeric are both anti-bacterial and rose water acts as an astringent that helps in reducing large pores.

These are all natural and time-tested combinations of clays. Be creative and use stuff from your pantry like tomato juice or almond powder to add to this pack according to your skin type and what suits your skin. Aloe Vera gel is a great idea too!
